Restring

Prices exclude parts and strings

Instrument Restring   £15–£25

Restringing is available for electric, acoustic and bass guitars, as well as other stringed instruments. Each instrument is checked during the restring to make sure the strings are fitted correctly and the hardware is working as expected.

A typical restring may include:

  • Removing the old strings

  • Cleaning of fingerboard and frets

  • Cleaning & Polishing of instrument

  • Fitting the new strings

  • Stretching and settling the strings

  • Checking the bridge, tuners and other hardware

  • Final tuning and playability check

  • Minor adjustments where appropriate

Why prices vary

The final price depends on the type of instrument, the number of strings and the bridge or tuning system. A straightforward six-string guitar will usually fall towards the lower end of the range, while basses, twelve-string guitars, floating tremolos and more complex instruments may cost more.

What is not included

Strings are charged separately unless supplied by the customer. Setup work, nut adjustments, fretwork, electronics repairs and replacement parts are not included in the price.

If the instrument needs more than a simple restring, I will explain the additional work and confirm the cost before carrying it out.

A selection of Ernie Ball strings are available when you visit.

The exact price will be confirmed after the guitar has been inspected. For a closer estimate, send details using the Get a Quote form.
